Create a City Sized Map by controlling all scaling.

Hi There!

I’m Dannes and I’m new to Dungeon Alchemist.

It’d be pretty easy to create a large city based map by giving us the ability to scale the objects and rooms via a universal scale multiplier. I know one currently exists, but I’m suggesting that it also affects stuff like Wall, Door and Window height.

For example, you could either set the scale as 25%, and one grid square would equal 20 feet (as opposed to the standard 5 feet). That way if you make a 2 grid by 2 grid house, you’d know it was 40 feet by 40 feet, but the walls won’t present as 40/50+ feet high. It’ll just present as a tiny little correct-proportioned house on a large map.

This way you can create a city to half scale, quarter scale, or fifth scale relatively easily. (Tenth scale wouldn’t necessarily fit within reasonable scaling. At smallest, you’d be making 1 grid by 1 grid buildings as 50’x50’ houses, and then everything else would be larger than that.) With a 100 grid square map, this changes the map from 500’x500’ to 1000’x1000’, or 2000’x2000’ or 2500’x2500’. All within the graphical restrictions of the engine.

This, IMO, would be a relatively easy thing to make. The object scaling is already there, though it only stops at 50%. Just have it apply to the creating / modifying rooms tools and stop it at 20% as well.

Once you’ve accomplished this, a more difficult tool would be so that you can pick a location on that map, zoom in, and auto generate a standard scale map based off of what you had. I.E. You create a city with a castle at the end. Quarter scale. Then you pick a starting point like the castle, the the tool would generate a new map of the blown up starting point based off of what you already created in the city map. From quarter scale to regular scale, everything is now 4X the size, and it allows you to create more detailed battle maps.
