Destroyed assets

I built a map using DA about year and a hald ago (now its coming up as “legacy”, pre multi-level). It is great, my players loved it. It was the family estate of one of the player characters. We’re doing Tyranny of Dragons and the party is on their first mission from the council. During this time, the cult attacks Waterdeep. Based on how the story has progresed, the family estate is a big target.

This fight happens “off-screen” so the party left the house in its pre-battle state, and will return to the wreckage of the after battle.

This is where my suggestion comes in. There are not nearly enough “destruction” assets available. There are some walls, but they don’t match the walls in the house, which are walls that were generated by the masion room setting. THe furniture in the house has no destroyed variants. For isntance, the table i used for the dining room doesnt remotely match the damaged tables available.

The “ruins” arent good enough either, because they are designed to look like old ruins, not fresh damage. They also do not match the available walls.

This house is also a lair, with lair actions. It animated furniture in the house to fight, so there should also be a lot of debris and broken furniture. The house animates the fountain outside as well, so a broken variant of that fountain would really sell the realism.

Additionally, there is very little we can do with the floors. There are a few “burned” floor pieces, but they are mostly carpeting. It’s hard to show any sort of battle damage on any floor in any scenario.

Finally, the options for damaged/destroyed trees is limited. I didn’t see any fallen tree assets, and most of the destroyed and burnt trees are down to their stumps. In this map, there are giant eagles in the yard and they will be fighting off attackers there, and trees should be getting damaged.

This explanation is to say it would be great if the team worked on “destroyed” variants of most of the items. My players WILL notice if it doesn’t look the same, and I have really enjoyed using DA for basic maps like the house before. It would be really satisfying both visually and storywise to have a before and after map of the house.

Rubble and debris that’s “paintable” would be great. Fractured wood and stone, broken stones. Also “paintable” damage, like cracks, scorch marks, etc for walls and floors.

I think the weakest part of DA for me has been the asset choices. I’m glad the Steam Workshop allows people to aake assets, and if i had any skill or knowledge on how to do that i would.

Additionally, the ability to rotate an object on all axis would be great too. Not every piece of furniture needs to be broken. Some can jsut be overturned.

Right now, because of the limitations, it seems like i will need to remove the assets from the previous map and use another program to create the destroyed version.
